Popping to a different meal

Well, there was no breakfast today. Well, there was breakfast but it was here, at the Ramos cafe, other wise known as the dinning room/ kitchen. And it was cold cereal. As much as I would have liked my coffee to magically appear in my mug this morning, I had to make it all by myself! The reason being, the grown ups where out way too late enjoying yummy goodies and champagne at POP in Pasadena. It was Super Yummy!! We had appetizers and dessert and of course champagne. I think my favorite appetizer was the Brie Toast with Chardonnay Soaked Raisins. And the desserts, well the Vanilla Crème Brûlée was out of hand! We tried many other tasty things as well, the Davids and almost everyone else inhaled the Prosciutto-wrapped Shrimp. Sundried Tomato Tapenade, was good! OOh and the Bananas Foster Crepe was soo good! I would love to go back another day....

To Toast, or not to toast

The Toasted Bun in Glendale.... MMmmm Mmmmm GOOD!

Where do I begin? It was all SO yummy. The food was fresh, the fruit looked like they cut it up just before it got served fresh. I had the eggs Florentine, the eggs where cooked to perfection, the spinach was perfectly wilted. The hollandaise was fresh. It was perfect! It would have been even better if my three year old did not try to steal the potatoes off my plate... The girls had pancakes and french toast, both yummy. The Davids had the breakfast quesadilla, and machaca and eggs.

We got there at 9:30 am and the place was HOPPIN! We got seated right away, but waited some time for our menus. The kids menu is good, but no coloring. And they are happy to do half orders for foods not on the kids menu. Really can not say enough good things about the food. We will be back (packing our own coloring books). Oh, and the bill for the 5 of us .... about $45.00!! AWESOME!!

Till our next adventure....

Vivian, Where have you been all my life?

Whenever I hear the name Vivian, it makes me think of the movie "Mildred Pierce". And the line "It's like I'm seeing you for the first time Vivian, and your cheap, and your horrible!!"
I have driven past Vivian's on Ventura Blvd. countless times, always wanted try it, but never have. Until today.... It was awesome, not horrible! Both Davids practically licked their plates clean. One had the biscuits and gravy, the other corn-beef hash. The girls had pancakes and french toast, both yummy. And the pancake was shaped like mickey mouse. The fruit cup had PAPAYA in it. I had a yummy egg scramble. And the Coffee was good!! Kids menu is small, but reasonable. They do offer half orders for things not on the kids menu. There is no coloring. Most of the seating is outside,so bring a sweater. I am sure we will be back. Many more tasty things to try on the menu.

Almost $3.00 tea bags?!!?!?!

Ahhh, Sunday morning breakfast. Today was Julia's first time to pick the restaurant ( I did give a choice of three to chose from) She picked a diner in Sherman Oaks called "Solley's", owned by the same people who own "Jerry's deli". Kids menu is big and priced well, and there is plenty to color and play with on the paper place mat. The food is good, REALLY good. Julia finished her silver dollar pancakes in between crawling over my back and sliding under the table to look for fallen crayons. The fruit bowl was full of melon, grapes and strawberries. The Davids' almost licked their plates clean. Uncle Dave had the Louisiana omelet, and David had pastrami and eggs. The service is good, there was almost no one else in the place at 9:30 AM. But we paid over $2 bucks for a regular cup of coffee ($2.35 this ain't no Starbucks) and a cup of Lipton tea was $2.45!! And Lipton was the only tea they served..... (if you are a tea drinker this will appall you).

Today's lesson; Do not sit in a booth with a wiggly almost 3 year old, ask for a table!! And bring your own tea bags!

The pre-brekfast post.

We did not go out for breakfast this past Sunday for many reasons:
1) Charley our eldest daughter ( yes, her name is Charley, just Charley) Was suppose to go to a birthday party Sunday AM.
2) We where out celebrating my birthday Saturday night....
3) When we got home Saturday night at 11PM Charley started puking all over the livingroom!!

She did not make it to the party and nobody went out to breakfast.....

The question now is Where will we go this Sunday and who's turn is it to pick....
David my husband is campaigning for us to skip breakfast this Sunday because he is working and will have to miss it. The fact that he is working only makes it more attractive. It just gives me some other adults (Uncle Dave and Aunt Fernanda) to help entertain my kids. Sure I may not get to eat my pancakes while they are hot, but at least someone else will do the dishes. And Coffee will magically appear in my mug!!
MMmmmmmm breakfast.
